About CBD Oil
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally-occurring constituent of industrial hemp (cannabis sativa) plants. It is the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis and is being scientifically investigated for numerous reasons. Most people have heard of a cannabinoid called THC, which is the ingredient in cannabis that gets users high. Unlike THC, CBD (cannabidiol) is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid and does not cause a high.
What is CBD oil, and how does it work?
Scientists have discovered more than 100+ phytonutrients in the cannabis plant. CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is one of those compounds. CBD does not cause the “high” that comes with other cannabinoids, such as THC. CBD works with your endocannabinoid system (ECS) to help balance the naturally occurring cannabinoids in your body.
What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)?
The Endocannabinoid System, or ECS, is your body’s regulatory system. It helps maintain homeostasis between the central nervous system, the immune system, and many other systems that make up a person’s body. Our own body produces endocannabinoids, and these interact with the phytocannabinoids found in hemp and CBD products to maintain that balance. Read more about the Endocannabinoid System here.
What are Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are a type of fatty compounds found in the human body, various plants, and hemp. They are the most abundant chemical compound in the cannabis plant. With more than 80+ identified cannabinoids, these play an important part in the balance and health of the human body and are supplemented by the use of CBD oil.
Hemp vs. Marijuana-derived Cannabinoids: Are they the same?
CBD is the same, whether it comes from marijuana or hemp. Marijuana has fewer non-psychoactive cannabinoids and contains high amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC – the compound that gets users “high” when taking it. Since hemp contains many more non-psychoactive cannabinoids, like CBD and CBG, it’s the preferred method for using CBD oil.
What’s the difference between CBD from hemp and CBD from marijuana?
Both hemp and marijuana are from the same genus and species (cannabis sativa). The characteristic of having low THC is the single difference that most rely on to distinguish industrial hemp from marijuana. CBD taken from hemp and marijuana is the exact same compound.
What is the entourage effect?
One of the most beneficial ways the body takes advantage of CBD is through the entourage effect. By taking a full spectrum CBD that contains a wide range of phytocannabinoids, terpenes, and other natural chemicals, you’re getting more from the product than taking something that only contains a single cannabinoid compound. This is the entourage effect in action.
What is the difference between isolate, broad spectrum, and full spectrum CBD?
There are many types of CBD oil on the market, including full spectrum CBD oil, broad spectrum CBD oil, and CBD isolate. NuLeaf Naturals sells full spectrum CBD oil.
Full spectrum CBD oil contains less than 0.3% THC and includes most hemp-derived cannabinoids. This allows for the entourage effect and for your body to get the most from our CBD oil. Broad spectrum CBD oil is essentially full spectrum, except it’s refined further to remove as much of the THC as possible from the final product. The THC is chemically or thermally removed which degrades the product. CBD isolate removes all compounds, including THC, from a full spectrum oil so that it’s 99% pure CBD.
Is CBD oil legal?
Industrial hemp was legalized with the passage of the United States Farm Bill of 2018. CBD containing less than 0.3% of THC is legal in all 50 states. Many states are also passing their own legislation to legalize hemp and CBD products further. You do not need a prescription to buy CBD oil. CBD laws vary internationally. We recommend you research the legality of CBD in your country before making a purchase.
What can CBD be used for?
CBD has a wide range of uses, including the potential to treat anxiety, depression, aches and pains, and other everyday ailments. While we can’t make medical claims to what CBD can or can’t treat, it has been shown to have a positive impact on people’s and pet’s lives.
How do I consume CBD?
The CBD oil we offer has a couple of different applications. You can hold a sublingual dose under the tongue for 30-60 seconds (recommended for fastest absorption), apply the oil topically to your skin (can be applied directly to a problem area or mixed with your favorite moisturizer), or blend the oil in a health-conscious smoothie. We will include further dosing instructions with the product. Read more about how to take CBD oil here.
Will CBD help my condition?
Due to federal regulations, we cannot make claims about whether or not natural CBD hemp oil can help with specific ailments. We do however urge everyone to research the widely available information online. You can easily find many resources about CBD hemp oil and its possible benefits.
What’s the most effective way to take CBD?
CBD can be taken sublingually, topically, or orally. CBD oil is versatile and can be used when cooking or baking. It can be added to water or drinks, too. NuLeaf Naturals recommends CBD oil be taken sublingually, holding up to ten drops under the tongue for at least 15 to 30 seconds before swallowing for maximum impact.
Can I get high on CBD?
You can’t get high from CBD oil, even when taking a full spectrum CBD oil product like ours. Our products have less than 0.3% THC within them. This is not enough THC to get you “high.” For comparison, the average joint has anywhere from 8% to 30+% THC in it. You won’t experience the psychoactive effects by taking NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil like you would be partaking in other marijuana-based products.
How much CBD should I take and how often?
NuLeaf Naturals recommends ten drops of CBD oil a day. Consistency is the most important part of taking CBD oil and benefiting from it. We recommend you split your drops between morning and night, taking it roughly at the same time each day. From there, you can adjust the number of drops up or down as you start noticing the impact it has on your body.
What are the most important factors to consider when buying CBD oil?
When buying CBD oil, it’s important to focus on the quality of the CBD oil above all else. Where is the hemp sourced? Is it organic and natural? Does the company provide lab-verified test results for each batch it sells? From there, it’s about finding the right product type for your needs. Not all CBD oil is the same, so taking the time to research companies, read reviews, and try different products is essential to finding what works right for your body’s needs.
Can I take NuLeaf Natural CBD oil with prescription medications?
If you’re on prescription medication, like any other health or dietary supplement you might take, consult with your doctor to ensure the best results.
Will NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil cause me to fail a drug test?
NuLeaf Naturals carries full spectrum CBD oil, which contains less than 0.3% THC as mandated by U.S. law. This does mean it’s possible to fail a drug test using our CBD oil. Drug tests vary. They are not uniform. Some are more sensitive than others, which means you could test positive for THC using full spectrum CBD oil. We can’t guarantee one way or another that you will pass or fail a drug test. Read more about CBD and drug tests here.
NuLeaf Naturals Premium CBD Products
Are your CBD products third-party lab-verified?
We test our CBD oil in house and with multiple third-party labs, including Steep Hill in Berkeley, California, and ProVerde in Milford, Massachusetts, to confirm our CBD products are free from pesticides, herbicides, mold, fungi, heavy metals, and mycotoxins. Our testing procedures also ensure our products contain the optimal amount of cannabinoids and terpenes. We use cutting-edge testing and world-class equipment to ensure that our products are consistent and safe. Click here to see our current lab results.
How do I look up the batch or lot number on my bottle to see the certificate of authenticity?
To search our batch reports, click here. Look at the label on your bottle and locate the batch code. This will start with a “B.” Type the three to the four-digit number that follows it in the search box, then click “Find Report” to pull up the results for your specific bottle of CBD. If a report doesn’t populate, please contact us at [email protected] or 720-372-4842 to let us know so we can ensure you have access to these important results.
Is your CBD oil a whole plant extract, synthetic, or an isolate?
We would never sacrifice quality by providing a synthetic CBD or CBD isolate blend. We use a whole plant extract that is rich in cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial oils. The Hadassah Medical School at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem sought to compare the effectiveness of a completely purified CBD extract versus a full-spectrum extract of cannabis flowers containing large quantities of CBD. The conclusion of the study was that the whole plant extract, which contained a large percentage of CBD but also contained traces of the other cannabinoids, proved far more effective than CBD-only solutions in alleviating inflammation and pain sensation.
What other cannabinoids are in your CBD oil?
Our full-spectrum CBD oil contains high concentrations of CBD and also other beneficial cannabinoids such as CBC, CBG, CBDA, and CBDV. These beneficial cannabinoids are not intoxicating and are being studied scientifically for a wide variety of health benefits. Cannabinoids work synergistically with each other which is known as the entourage effect and this synergy creates a more potent product.
When does the product expire?
Without refrigeration, the product will last for 12 months. Refrigeration is completely optional but will extend the shelf life of the product to 18 months.
How should I store my CBD? What is the shelf life?
Store your CBD oil in a cool, dark area. Don’t set the bottle in direct sunlight where possible. CBD oil can last up to one year if stored properly.
How should I use the included dropper to administer the CBD oil?
The included dropper should always be kept clean, especially if taking CBD sublingually or orally. Make sure to clean it after every use to avoid bacteria getting into the bottle. You can run the dropper under warm water or use an alcohol swab to clean it. Make sure the dropper is completely dry when using an alcohol swab before putting it back in the bottle.
What other ingredients are in your CBD oil?
Our CBD oil has only one ingredient, hemp! Our extracts contain 100% organic cold-pressed hemp oil and our proprietary full spectrum CBD concentrate. There are no other additives, preservatives, emulsifiers, or flavorings.
Where do you source your hemp from?
Our CBD oil is extracted from organic hemp plants cultivated on licensed farms in Colorado, USA – all nourished with pristine Rocky Mountain water and lots of sunshine. It’s grown the way nature intended and harvested at peak perfection.
Why is NuLeaf Naturals not USDA certified?
The USDA has made the statement that they will not certify any hemp products grown in the United States at this time. We partnered with industry-leading third-party labs, Steep Hill and ProVerde, to ensure that our CBD oil is 100% organic. Click here to see our current lab results.
Can my dog, cat, or other pets take your CBD oil?
We offer our full spectrum CBD oil for pets, too. CBD oil works for dogs, cats, and other animals, too. Like any other health or dietary supplement, you might give your animal friends, check with your veterinarian for best results.
Are there any side effects from giving my pets NuLeaf Naturals CBD oil?
There should be no side effects from giving your animals CBD oil if you use the recommended dosage. Keep an eye on them as you begin supplementing their day with CBD. They can’t speak up as humans can. Too much CBD oil in larger dosages may cause drowsiness, upset stomachs, or diarrhea. Follow the recommended dosage for pets and consult your veterinarian to ensure your furry friends are living a happy, healthy life on CBD oil.
Green Extraction Methods
How do you extract the CBD and other cannabinoids from the raw plant material?
We use green extraction methods that utilize CO2, which leaves behind no toxins, heavy metals, or chemicals to degrade the product in any way. CO2 is safe to use in food products and commonly found in carbonated beverages, and our bodies even produce CO2 when we breathe!
What type of CO2 extraction do you use?
We use a combination of both Subcritical and Supercritical extractions. This allows us to perform a “fractional extraction” by first extracting at lower pressures to remove the lighter, temperature-sensitive volatile oils, and then subsequently extracting the same material at a higher pressure to remove the remaining oils. This approach is the best because it allows us to extract a complete range of cannabinoids, terpenes, essential oils, and other beneficial phytochemicals that yield a more potent blend. Read more about our CO2 extraction process here.
