Frequently Asked Questions

What is CBD balm?
CBD balm is a topical form of CBD that is applied directly to the skin. It is made by combining CBD extract with carrier oil such as coconut oil, beeswax, or shea butter. Essential oils are sometimes added as well.
How does CBD balm work?
CBD balm works by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system through cannabinoid receptors in the skin. Using topical CBD balm may help promote skin vitality.
What benefits does CBD balm offer?
CBD balm and other CBD topicals are typically used for recovery. Some users also find it to be effective in aiding muscle recovery due to exercise. CBD balm's main benefit is that it can be applied topically to certain areas of the body rather than being ingested orally, which some users find to be more effective.
How is CBD balm used?
CBD balm is applied directly to the skin. Some may use it on the neck, shoulders, chest, and other areas. To use CBD balm, apply a thin layer on the affected area as needed. Be sure to avoid contact with open words or near the eyes.
How often can I use CBD balm?
CBD balm is generally safe to use as often as necessary to achieve the desired effect. Each user’s body is different; some may require more applications than others.
How long do the effects of CBD balm last?
Each body is different, so there is no straightforward answer for how long the effects of CBD balm may last. Factors from the condition being addressed to the amount of balm used will require either more or less frequent applications.
Are there any side effects of using CBD balm?
Although CBD balm is considered safe for most users and is widely used without incident, there can be side effects. More often, the issue is not with CBD but with secondary ingredients commonly used in topical products. One way to ensure no adverse effects is to apply a minimal amount to the skin and monitor for undesired outcomes. At NuLeaf Naturals, we avoid all additives–including fragrances–in our balm to further reduce the risk of irritation or sensitivities.
Can CBD balm be used on the face?
CBD balm is generally safe for facial application, provided the ingredients are formulated for use on the face. While CBD oil itself doesn’t clog pores, other ingredients in CBD balm might. Nuleaf Naturals’ CBD balm is made with shea butter, which is rated 2 out of 5 on the Comedogenic scale regarding the potential to clog pores.
Can CBD balm be used for pets?
CBD is generally considered safe for pets, but it’s essential to check the list of ingredients to ensure they are all animal-friendly. NuLeaf Naturals’ CBD balm utilizes two simple ingredients: full spectrum hemp extract and raw, unrefined shea butter - both of which are safe to ingest if your pet licks the area of application. It may be worth exploring more pet-friendly CBD products such as CBD pet oil or CBD treats.
Can CBD balm be used with other topicals?
Generally speaking, CBD balm is safe to use in combination with other topical products. Always do a patch test before using any new topical product, whether CBD-based or otherwise.
