About Oils

What Are CBD, CBG, CBN, CBC & THC Oil Tinctures?

Cannabinoid oils, often called tinctures, are hemp extracts suspended in a carrier oil and taken as drops under the tongue. This collection includes full spectrum CBD Oil, CBG Oil, CBN Oil, CBC Oil, and Multicannabinoid Oil, THC-free broad spectrum options like Broad Spectrum CBD Oil, Clarity, and Deep Rest, and Delta-9 THC formulas including Unwind THC Oil, Sleep THC Oil, and THC Oil for adults 21 and older. Every bottle is third-party lab tested, with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) available by batch number. Compare the oils below to find the cannabinoid, extract type, and serving that fits your routine.

How to Choose Your CBD Oil or Tincture Serving

Serving Size is 10 drops, about 30mg, for every human Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum oil in this collection, per product labeling. If you're new to cannabinoid oil, start lower, around 5 drops (about 15mg). If you've used one of our oils before, you can take more than 10 drops and increase gradually based on how you feel. These are general starting and adjustment ranges, not labeled amounts, and individual results vary. Start at the beginner level and hold your dose under the tongue for 30 to 60 seconds before swallowing. Give a consistent dose for two to three weeks before adjusting.* Individual results vary.

Pet CBD Oil uses different, weight-based dosing (2 drops per 25 pounds of body weight) and is not covered by this guidance. See our Pet Oils collection for pet-specific serving sizes. Unwind THC Oil, Sleep THC Oil, and THC Oil contain Delta-9 THC. Start with 10 drops and wait at least 60 to 90 minutes before deciding whether to take more. These products are for adults 21 and older only.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is hemp oil the same as CBD oil?
No, hemp oil and CBD oil are not the same product. Hemp seed oil is pressed from hemp seeds and doesn't naturally contain CBD. It's the carrier oil in our formulas. CBD oil comes from hemp extract, taken from the plant's flowers and leaves, and contains cannabinoids like CBD. Our tinctures combine both: hemp extract for cannabinoid content and organic hemp seed oil as the carrier.
What's the difference between hemp oil and CBD oil?
Hemp oil, or hemp seed oil, is a carrier oil pressed from hemp seeds and rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. CBD oil is made from hemp extract and contains cannabinoids. If a product lists only hemp seed oil as its active ingredient, it likely doesn't contain meaningful CBD. Always check the label for hemp extract or CBD.
What's the difference between a CBD tincture and CBD oil?
The terms are often used interchangeably for the same sublingual dropper format. A tincture is technically alcohol-based, while our products are oil-based, using organic hemp seed oil as the carrier. Most brands, including NuLeaf Naturals, use tincture and oil to describe the same drop-based product.
How do I use a CBD tincture?
Fill the dropper to your desired dose, place the oil under your tongue, and hold for 30 to 60 seconds before swallowing. This lets cannabinoids absorb through the tissue under your tongue rather than passing through your digestive system first, which is why sublingual use works faster than gummies or capsules.*
Can CBD oil make you hallucinate?
No, CBD itself is intended to be non-intoxicating and should not cause hallucinations. Our Full Spectrum oils contain only trace amounts of naturally occurring THC, under 0.3%, far too little to produce a psychoactive effect at normal doses, and individual results can still vary from person to person.
Will CBD oil show up on a drug test?
It's possible, since Full Spectrum oils contain trace amounts of naturally occurring THC. Although we cannot guarantee that you will pass a drug test after consuming this product, you can choose a Broad Spectrum, THC-free oil instead, like Broad Spectrum CBD Oil, Clarity, or Deep Rest, if drug testing is a concern.
Can I mix different oils together?
Yes, many people take CBD and CBG oils together during the day and add CBN in the evening. Start with one oil at a time to see how your body responds before combining formulas. Never combine a Delta-9 THC oil with alcohol or other substances.
Where can I buy cannabinoid oil online?
You can shop our full lineup of CBD, CBG, CBN, CBC, and THC oils directly on this page. Not sure where to start? Compare formulas in the table above, or reach out to our team for a personalized recommendation based on your goals.

CBD Oil Ingredients and Quality Standards

Our Full Spectrum oils, CBD Oil, CBG Oil, CBN Oil, CBC Oil, Multicannabinoid Oil, Unwind THC Oil, Sleep THC Oil, and THC Oil, use two ingredients: full spectrum hemp extract and organic virgin hemp seed oil. Our Broad Spectrum oils, Broad Spectrum CBD Oil, Clarity, and Deep Rest, use a USDA Certified Organic broad spectrum distillate in place of hemp extract, plus organic hemp seed oil, for a formula with no detectable THC. Clarity and Deep Rest add a second distillate, CBG or CBN, for their three-ingredient blends. Every batch, across every formula, starts with organically grown hemp and is tested by an independent, third-party lab for cannabinoid potency, heavy metals, pesticides, residual solvents, and microbials. You can look up your bottle's Certificate of Analysis (COA) by batch number. Although we cannot guarantee that you will pass a drug test after consuming any product on this page, our Broad Spectrum formulas are built to contain no detectable THC.

Spectrum Type THC Content Core Ingredients
Full Spectrum Trace naturally occurring THC (under 0.3%) Full spectrum hemp extract, organic hemp seed oil
Broad Spectrum No detectable THC USDA Certified Organic broad spectrum distillate(s), organic hemp seed oil
Delta-9 THC (Unwind, Sleep, THC Oil) Delta-9 THC as an active cannabinoid; intoxicating Full spectrum hemp extract, organic hemp seed oil

How to Take a CBD Oil or Tincture

Oils and tinctures are held under the tongue for 30 to 60 seconds before swallowing, giving them the fastest onset of NuLeaf's formats at 15 to 30 minutes. Softgels and gummies are swallowed instead, with a slower 45 to 90 minute onset, but offer a tasteless or pre-dosed option if you'd rather skip the dropper.

To take an oil or tincture, fill the dropper to your desired dose, place it under your tongue, and hold for 30 to 60 seconds before swallowing. This sublingual method absorbs faster than Gummies or Softgel Capsules, since some of the cannabinoid content is absorbed before reaching your stomach.* You can also add your dose to a smoothie or other food.

How Long Does Oil Take to Work and Last?

Held under the tongue, most oils begin working within 15 to 30 minutes and last 4 to 6 hours.* Onset is faster than gummies or capsules because some of the cannabinoid absorbs directly through the tissue under your tongue. Take your oil before a stressful moment, before bed, or as part of your morning routine, and give it two to three weeks before deciding whether it fits your routine.* Wait at least 60 to 90 minutes before taking more, even if you don't notice an effect right away, since it can take time to build up in your system.
