CBD is derived from the cannabis sativa plant, but unlike marijuana, CBD is non-intoxicating.
How quickly you can experience results after taking CBD depends on a number of factors:
Strength and quality. The amount of CBD in the product you’re taking – as well as the quality of the product itself – can both play a big part in how fast you get results. Because CBD is newly legal (at the federal level – check your state and local legislation for the most current regulations pertaining to your geographic location), regulations are somewhat sparse. Consumers are advised to do their own due diligence to ensure they are receiving a quality product. One of the easiest ways to do this is to check to see the manufacturer is conducting independent third-party testing. Those results should be readily available online. Click here to see an example.
How the CBD is taken. CBD is available in tinctures, capsules, softgels, snacks and treats, beverages, salves, lotions, and more. But how you take it matters, because some methods take much longer to take effect. CBD oil will be absorbed into the body much more quickly than topical treatments or edible forms. Furthermore, the way you take the CBD oil matters as well. CBD oil can be ingested, taken sublingually, or applied to the skin. Taking CBD under the tongue can work as quickly as five to 20 minutes, whereas CBD oil added to a food or beverage can take a minimum of thirty minutes to take effect. Taking CBD consistently on a daily basis ensures more consistent results, as opposed to occasional use.
Your unique physical chemistry. Because each body is unique, individuals may experience variations in the dosing needed, optimal frequency, and speed of impact. This is why many manufacturers recommend starting with a moderate amount (usually “one dropper full”) and then monitoring your own results, adjusting up or down as needed until you achieve the results you want.
Because CBD is non-intoxicating, the specific feelings and sensations are often subtle. This makes CBD easier for most people to take, as it does not impair an individual’s ability to drive, work, and function in their normal life.
